Wash Out

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012

Well the Great North Swim was a wash out. I don’t think I’ve seen so much rain. They cancelled our swim! We went out and climbed in anyway a nice lady came out in a rib and said the usual health & safety stuff then wished us well. So we did it but no tee shirt and no medal!

Last Training Discipline

And you all thought I looked good in LYCRA!

Well it’s raining this morning. Nothing unusual in that! It’s even less surprising for me for 2 reasons the first being I am having a day’s holiday today, the second is that today I am doing The Great North Swim at Lake Windermere in Cumbria, a 2 mile open water swim. This is the last of the 3 elements of the Ironman that I have scheduled into my training. I’ve already done the Manchester Marathon – what a miserably wet day that was. Then I did the little know but hugely hard Le Terrier through the beautiful Bowland country side – the rain poured down for 8 hours. So the only conciliation for me today is that I guess I can’t get any wetter and I’ll have my wetsuit on!
